Marielle Our Camp Director

Marielle has been with Eureka Camp for five years and is thrilled to be returning this summer as the Camp Director for a second year. Marielle has been working in Disability Services nearly a decade in Edmonton, Alberta, and has a degree in Psychology with a minor in English. Having worked at Eureka as well as camps in Alberta, Marielle looks forward to every summer and being able to watch and support campers grow (both new and returning), challenge themselves and develop an appreciation for the outdoors. She also mentioned that being able to swim in the ocean, sail and count the stars at night are some pretty great job perks.

Lalor KathleenKathleen Lalor Our Assistant Camp Director

Hey, I’m Kathleen! This is going to my 4th summer at Eureka and I’m stoked!

I’m from Edmonton, AB originally but now have ties in Barrie, ON and Guelph, ON. I go to school for wildlife biology and conservation in Guelph, and am excited and ready to graduate in one year!

I went to camp as a kid at YMCA Camp Elphinstone, and worked there for two summers, one of which I spent half of with Eureka. I was hooked and have worked with Eureka ever since. Some of my best camp memories have been spent with Eureka, and I can’t wait for another fantastic summer! I’m looking forward to helping returning and new Eureka campers create long lasting and happy camp memories!

See you soon! –Kathleen

PS. I enjoy dressing up, pugs, and camp activities such as archery and sailing.”

This will be my first summer at Eureka. Fear not, I go way back with Elphinstone and other camps. I’m downright feverish with excitement! I love camp with all my heart, and Eureka is an exciting new chapter for me. There is nothing I love more than a wholesome adventure. Other things that interest me are tasty books and foods and new friends. I was born in Calgary, but I’ve called Vancouver Island home for the past five years. I just finished my undergrad in English at UVic. Basically I’m between homes right now – a plastic bag drifting in the wind.

See ya soon!

This is my first summer working at Eureka Camp, and I am so excited to be able to live the camp-life all summer long!  Having just completed my undergrad at the University of Guelph, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work as a camp leader this summer before I begin my MSc in the fall. I’ve always been a camper and a cottager, but, as an Ontario native, this is my first summer in BC, so I’m looking forward to the new experiences that I’m sure the west coast has to offer. The last two Summers I worked as a teaching assistant at summer school for secondary students, so I am pumped to be able to get outside and have some fun with my fellow campers this summer. I can’t wait to meet all of the incoming campers, I’m certain it’s going to be an awesome summer at Eureka Camp!

I’m beyond stoked to get back to camp for my second summer! What could be better than hanging out with cool campers and hilarious councillors, doing awesome activities in the great outdoors? I love being in nature, and my favourite thing of all is to be in the ocean, diving for crabs and starfish! Here in Toronto I’m working towards getting my masters in social work at the University of Toronto, and I teach swimming part time at a private swim school geared towards kids of all abilities!

Can’t wait to see some old faces this summer, and to meet all the first timers too!

CAMP SEASON IS UPON US!!! This is my third summer working for Eureka and I’m still just as excited as I was in my first season of employment. Now that I have recently finished my third year studying Child and Youth Care at Vancouver Island University, I am ready to spend my summer eating delicious breadsticks and brownies. Some of my favourite camp past times involve wearing two lifejackets at once, fishing at the dock, playing gaga ball, watching the talent shows, having my face painted, and eating dessert. This year I’m hoping to be the queen of sun safety. I’m always ready to listen to jokes and create cool handshakes, so get ready kiddos – this is going to a summer for the books!

Hey! I’m Chelsey aka Chesley aka Chez and I’ll be returning for my third summer at Eureka. I’m a self proclaimed camp fanatic and I can’t wait for blondies, wake up calls and never-can-tell games (SNAPS I’m coming for ya!) When I’m not at camp you can find me thinking about camp, talking about camp, and wishing I was at camp. I have also recently discovered the magic of miniature pigs and matcha flavored Oreos, so it’s safe to say 2016 might just be the best year yet. See you all in the woods!!!

This is my second summer working with Eureka! I had such a blast last year I just had to come back for more laughs! I have previous experience working with YMCA Camp Elphinstone for 3 summers as a group leader. I’m so excited to get back to the glorious camp atmosphere, hanging out at the gaga ball pit, go for some refreshing dips in the ocean, and go on some fun adventures for Marine Beach! I’ve been lucky enough to do quite a bit of travelling, but there’s nothing like coming back to the Sunshine Coast and getting to see those beautiful mountains every day!

Lucius JoeyJoey Lucius

Hi I’m Joey! But some of you might know me as Jo3y. This will be my second summer at Eureka Camp and I’m super stoked to see all the new faces AND all the familiar ones. Can’t wait to sleep in a bunk bed again, chat about our bunk beds, and shop online for bunk bed related accessories (like ladders). I’m really looking forward to making new memories with all the campers and staff!

I was born n’ raised in Edmonton where I’m currently an education student at the University of Alberta. Some things I love: Going to movie matinees by myself, bundling up n’ going for walks when it’s -30 out and the snow is all squeaky, and going to bed at a reasonable hour. Here’s a picture of me from camp last summer eating with a tinfoil spoon.
